The
Bear River Cabin is the most spectacular vacation rental in
Western Maine. A large, new, western style log cabin located on
57 dramatic and secluded acres on scenic Route 26 in Newry, Maine,
it is the perfect four season vacation rental for downhill and
cross country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, ice skating,
hiking, fishing, boating, sightseeing and just plain old
relaxing.
A
three hour ride from Boston, it is approximately 10 minutes from
both the
Sunday River Ski Resort and the scenic town of
Bethel; 5 minutes
from the Androscoggin River; and 5 minutes from scenic
Grafton Notch State Park.
It has direct access to the
Maine Interconnected Trail system (ITS84) for hiking, snowmobiling
and cross country skiing and is directly across from the trail
head to the 17 mile
Grafton Loop Trail
which connects to the
Appalachian Mountain Trail.
The
Bear River, the primary drainage system for the
Mahoosuc Mountain Range,
flows
for almost 2,000 feet through the property, providing unparalleled
water views as well as fishing (rainbow and brook trout) and
swimming opportunities. A large, natural pool in the river,
located only steps from the Cabin was once the town’s unofficial
swimming hole. The pool is over 40 feet wide and 60 feet long and
up to 12 feet deep with a smooth granite bottom and is perfect for
a hot afternoon dip. Just up from the river is an area that fills
with water in the winter and turns into a skating pond when
frozen.

you’re looking for a true Maine experience rather than a vacation
rental in a subdivision you’ll fall in love with the Bear River
Cabin - a million dollar Cabin on a million dollar site.

the river, and has panoramic views of the river, the 3,300 foot

Valley. The Cabin is brand new and will be available for the
first time as a vacation rental in the fall of 2006.
It

large bedrooms (two with cathedral ceilings); four and one-half
baths (the master with Jacuzzi tub); a cathedral ceiling Great
Room with a spectacular 21 foot fieldstone fireplace (gas);

overlooking the Great Room; 5 sliding doors leading to a 1,000
square foot deck with hot tub; a large basement entertainment area
containing a four-sided gas fireplace, 16’ bar, pool table, piano
and entertainment center; and a two car, heated garage,

of Douglas fir logs, from 13 to 17 inches in diameter that were
imported from British Colombia, the Cabin was designed and
finished with over 8,000 square feet of pine ceilings and a
dramatic pitched roof that includes four large gables and four
dormers. A computerized radiant heating system installed beneath
the floors throughout the Cabin (including the garage) insures
that our guests will always be comfortable and will be able to

outside temperature. The Cabin has wireless DSL Internet
capabilities, Direct TV, and an entertainment system featuring 37
